Accessibility
What we do to make this website work for everyone, and where it still falls short.
Our target
WCAG 2.2 level AA on every public page.
We aim for level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, and we publish this statement voluntarily. As a micro-enterprise we're generally exempt from the service obligations of the European Accessibility Act, which has applied since 28 June 2025. We aim for AA anyway.
- Standard
- WCAG 2.2, level AA
- Status
- Not yet audited. We check every page with automated tests and by keyboard as we build; a full manual audit is planned.
- Scope
- Every public page of hovrstudios.com. The admin, used only by our team, is outside it.
How the site adapts
You choose motion, colour, sound and shortcuts. Your device's settings come first.
- Motion: Stills pauses smooth scrolling, the home page's entrance, the 3D drone and autoplaying films. It's on when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Colour: films show in black and white until you hold still on them. Set colour to always, or use Stills, to see them in colour straight away.
- Sound: off until you turn it on.
- Shortcuts: single keys like M for the menu. Turn them off if they get in the way of your screen reader or voice control.
- Contrast: when your device asks for more contrast, text and lines get stronger. In forced-colours mode the site uses your system colours.
Your settings are saved in this browser only.
Keyboard
Everything works without a mouse. Single-key shortcuts pause while you type in a field, and you can turn them off.
- On every page the first Tab stop is "Skip to content".
- Focus is always visible and never hidden under the fixed bars.
- The menu, the film player and every sheet keep focus inside while open, close with Esc and return you where you were.
- Anything you can drag, like the film rail or the 3D kit, also has buttons or keys that do the same.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| ? | Show all shortcuts |
| M | Open or close the menu |
| S | Sound on or off |
| P | Pause motion (Stills) |
| C | Colour always, or when you hold |
| J / K | Previous or next film, on the work pages |
| Esc | Close what's open |
Films, colour and the 3D drone
Nothing important lives only in a moving image, a colour or the 3D drone.
- Films never start with sound. Every film has a written description, and any film with speech gets captions.
- Whatever the 3D drone shows is also written on the page, and its controls are real buttons.
- In Stills, or when your device saves data or can't run 3D, the drone is a still image and nothing autoplays.
- Colour never carries meaning in the interface: errors and states are spelled out in words.
Known limitations
Known gaps, and what we're doing about them.
- English only for now. French and Dutch versions are on the way.

About this statement
We prepared it ourselves, from our own testing.
It is dated at the top, and we review it whenever a change to the site affects accessibility.
